What is “intuitive making?”
Intuitive making is dedicated space to feel, move, and derive embodied knowledge of the self, expressed through mark making and held on the page.
Over the last 11 years, Ryn has adapted and reconceptualized the cyanotype process, reenvisioning the “traditional” image or object based method to one of intuitive movement and mark making.

The process evolves
Ryn recently made the “leap” to more rigorously integrate movement and dance practices within her work, heavily influenced by Ayako Kato’s “Art of Being” workshops as well as the “problem and rule” structure offered in Daniel Nagrin’s Choreography and the Specific Image. Nagrin describes improvisation as “...a time to be surprised with what you contain…” (Nagrin, 55). Oh how we need undefined space to play, to see and know ourselves in the depths of our containment.
