Cyanotypes
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Due to their chemical nature, ensure your cyanotype is displayed and / or stored in the right conditions to conserve its prussian blue color. Cyanotypes, similar to other artworks, are susceptible to direct UV light exposure, alkaline objects, and contact with water. Avoid displaying your cyanotype in direct sunlight as this may cause fading over time. Frame the work using only pH neutral (pH less than or equal to 7) non alkaline materials, including matting and mat board. Store the work in a Ph neutral sleeve, in a low light, low humidity environment. Keep the work dry and avoid any contact with water or salt based solutions.

“original” - only one art work exists, there are no variations or copies.
“editioned print” - the image is made by carving a woodblock or linoleum, and then inked and printed. A pre - determined number of prints exist. There may be some variation in ink saturation, but the image itself is replicated.
“open edition print” - Similar to an editioned print, but the number of prints made can be endless. The artist is free to print additional copies at her discretion.
